The Cannes Festival , Founded in 1946. The purpose of the festival award and tribute to all type of films and documentaries, from all around the world. It is usually held annually (usually in May). The festival was organised by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations)in 1951.
75th Annual Cannes Film Festival
The 75th annual Cannes Film Festival is a 2022 film festival. It took place from 17 to 28 May 2022.
The festival featured a tribute to actor Tom Cruise, whose film Top Gun premiered at the festival and where the actor was awarded a Honorary award.
The festival returned after the last two editions as a precaution on the COVID.
First-Ever Pakistani Movie Joyland
The Movie, “Joyland,” the first Pakistani film to be selected in Cannes. The film written and directed by Saim Sadiq.
It premiered at Cannes Film Festival 2022 and it received standing ovation after its screening.
It also won Jury Prize and Queer Palm awards at the festival. The movie managed to beat other 13 nominated movies at the festival.
Joyland is a 2022 Pakistani Urdu-language drama film. The film starring Rasti Farooq, Alina Khan and Sarwat Gilani, other role played by Salmaan Peerzada, Sohail Sameer, Sania Saeed, Ali Junejo.
In the movie, a character of trans woman played by a real life trans woman Alina Khan.
The film celebrates ‘transgender culture’ in Pakistan and tells the story of a family in Lahore.
The film made in Lahore, shows family where the male child is preferred over female child. When a married man of the family falls in love for a transgender woman, it raises questions of personal choices and freedom over his family.
The movie Joyland received standing ovation after its screening. Standing ovation video is keep sharing on social media and it’s trending. The video showed that film got a nearly ten minute long standing ovation.
