Pakistani dramas, or Pakistani serials, are produced in Pakistan. One of Pakistan’s oldest television dramas is the Urdu serial Khuda ki basti, which aired in 1969. Humsafar is a 2011-2012 Pakistani Drama based on the novel by Farhat Ishtiaq (who also wrote the screenplay), and directed by Sarmad Sultan khoosa It stars Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Naveen War, Atiqa Odho, and Hina Khawaja Bayat.
Humsafar become the most successful program of the channel to date, earning it widespread acclaim and international recognition. Due to its success, critics referred to this era of Pakistani Television as a “Golden Age”.
We can say Humsafar is probably the most popular Pakistani drama that gained immense success when it aired on television in India too.
The theme song Woh hamsafar tha was composed by Waqar Ali and sung by Quratulain Baloach. Naseer Turabi wrote the poem to express his sorrow after the fall of Dhaka (marking the end of the Indo pan War of 1971). It serves as both the song for the title sequence, as well as background music during each episode.
