Black Day of Pakistan History
May 9, 2023, was considered the worst day in Pakistan’s history when lawmakers broke the law. Former Pakistani Prime Minister and politician Imran Khan was arrested at the Islamabad Supreme Court. He is accused of corruption related to Al-Qadir Trust, which he co-owns with his wife Bushra Bibi.
It was considered illegal around the world when Imran Khan was arrested. Many newspapers and social media called the day 9 May “Black Day”.

A day after the arrest the Military responded and declared Mr Khan’s arrest lawful.

But the next day, Pakistan’s Supreme Court found the arrest unlawful and ordered Khan’s immediate release.

After Imran Khan’s arrest, with the internet down and other services out of action, social media was flooded with support for Imran Khan. Still, footage, news, and domestic situations were everywhere. Everyone was talking about what was going on. How Imran Khan was arrested. Political commentators, lawyers and journalists weren’t the only ones who criticised the arrest.
However, Pakistani showbiz actor and actress Imran Khan expressed her love and support and criticised the government’s actions.
After the arrested Khan, many of his celebrity supporters showed support towards him. While some took to social media to share their views, others showed their support on-ground as the party gave a call for countrywide protests. Singer Annie Khalid and Mishi Khan urged people to leave their homes to lend support to the former premier of Pakistan.

Television and film actress Maya Ali took to her Instagram Story and said this was “ridiculous to see our kaptaan in their hands.”

Actor Adnan Siddiqui took to Twitter to call the incident “shameful”, saying that it was “shocking” to see a former PM being dragged like a “petty criminal”.
“Never in the history of our country were such scenes witnessed. Power has surely gone to the ruling dispensation’s head,” he wrote.
